When an out-of-state agent calls me about a luxury relocation, the conversation usually begins with the home and quickly turns to the economy around it: how large the region is, who it employs, how wages are distributed, and which major projects are underway. For clients relocating a business, establishing a second residence, or moving a family full time, those figures frame nearly every other decision. Below is the most recent official data for the Las Vegas-Henderson-North Las Vegas metropolitan area, current as of mid-October 2026.

A County of 2.4 Million Residents

The U.S. Census Bureau's Vintage 2025 estimates place Clark County's resident population at 2,407,226 as of July 1, 2025. That is 6.2 percent above the April 2020 estimates base of 2,266,446, an increase of roughly 140,800 residents in a little over five years. For scale, the same release estimates Washoe County, home to Reno, at 509,386. Clark County is the population and employment center of Nevada.

Employment Through August 2026

According to the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR), seasonally adjusted total nonfarm employment in the Las Vegas metropolitan area reached 1,186,900 jobs in August 2026. That is 7,000 more than in July and 14,200 more than in August 2025, a year-over-year gain of 1.2 percent. In the same report, national nonfarm employment grew 0.4 percent over those twelve months, and Nevada as a whole added 20,700 jobs, or 1.3 percent. From July to August, statewide gains were led by leisure and hospitality (3,100 jobs) and professional and business services (1,000 jobs).

The metropolitan unemployment rate, which is not seasonally adjusted, was 4.8 percent in August 2026, down from 5.4 percent in July and 5.7 percent in August 2025. The area's labor force stood at 1,229,087, with 1,169,598 residents employed. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics lists October 28, 2026 as the next scheduled release for this series.

How Wages Are Distributed

The most recent occupational wage survey from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, covering May 2025, reports a mean hourly wage of $29.23 across all occupations in the metropolitan area, compared with $33.54 nationally. The higher-paying occupational groups locally include legal ($71.23 per hour), management ($62.21) and healthcare practitioners and technical occupations ($48.76).

The composition of the workforce is as informative as the averages. Food preparation and serving occupations account for 14.7 percent of local employment, compared with 8.8 percent nationally, while computer and mathematical occupations account for 1.8 percent locally and 3.4 percent nationally. For executives and business owners who are relocating a practice, a family office or a team, that distribution is useful context for how the regional labor market is structured.

The Visitor Economy in August 2026

The latest monthly tourism data shows its key indicators moving in different directions. The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) reported 3,034,900 visitors in August 2026, down 4.3 percent from 3,171,500 in August 2025. The LVCVA attributed part of that decline to the Labor Day weekend falling mostly in September this year. Convention attendance rose 6.0 percent to 622,700. Citywide hotel occupancy was 74.1 percent, down 3.4 points, and the average daily room rate was $150.32, down 7.4 percent. Through the first eight months of 2026, occupancy held at 80.4 percent and the average daily rate rose 1.9 percent to $183.60.

On the gaming side, the Nevada Gaming Control Board reported statewide gaming win of $1.27 billion for August, up 3.1 percent year over year, with Las Vegas Strip win up 0.7 percent to $684.1 million. The Board noted that August was the 66th consecutive month in which statewide gaming win exceeded $1 billion. Harry Reid International Airport reported 4.1 million passengers for the month, down 9.2 percent from August 2025.

Major Projects and Events on the Calendar

Two developments shape the near-term calendar on and around the Las Vegas Strip. Construction of the Athletics' $2.1 billion ballpark on Las Vegas Boulevard reached its highest point on October 7, 2026, with the completion of the third of five roof truss arches in the 17th month of construction. The ballpark is planned for 30,000 seats, its construction workforce is expected to grow to between 1,200 and 1,500 over the next 12 months, and it remains scheduled to open in 2028.

The Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix returns November 19 to 21, 2026, on the 3.8-mile Las Vegas Strip Circuit, with the race on Saturday, November 21. Clients planning a November visit should be aware of those dates, since the circuit runs on and around the Strip.

Context for Your Client Conversation

Taken together, the current figures describe a metropolitan area of roughly 2.4 million residents with year-over-year job growth above the national rate, a labor market concentrated in hospitality and service occupations, and a visitor economy in which attendance, room rates and gaming revenue are not moving in lockstep. When a client asks, I can pair these regional figures with the specific neighborhoods, commute patterns and property types they are considering, so their decision rests on current local data rather than general impressions.
