Schooling Options Across the Las Vegas Valley: What Relocating Agents Need to Know
When an out-of-state agent calls me about a luxury relocation, the conversation often turns from the property to schooling. Clients want to know which public district covers the address they are considering, what magnet, charter, and private options exist valley-wide, and which colleges sit near Summerlin, Henderson, or the northwest rim. Below is a descriptive overview of Clark County’s K–12 and higher-education landscape from official sources as of mid-October 2026. I do not rank schools or communities; I pass along verified facts so you can answer your client’s questions with local context.
Clark County School District: Scale and Geography
Nearly every traditional public school address in the Las Vegas valley falls under the Clark County School District (CCSD). According to CCSD’s Popular Annual Financial Report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2025 (published October 23, 2025), the district is the fifth-largest school district in the nation. It reported serving 287,380 students in school year 2024–25 (blended average daily enrollment), with 45,050 employees and 374 schools across roughly 7,900 square miles of Clark County. The same report lists 233 elementary, 61 middle, 54 high, and 4 adult campuses.
Attendance is address-based. CCSD maintains an official Zoning Search tool so families can look up the elementary, middle, and high schools assigned to a specific address. Boundaries change with enrollment and residential growth, so any zone lookup is current only for the date it is run. Summerlin and the western rim, Henderson and the southern valley, and northwest Las Vegas—including Centennial Hills and Tule Springs—are all within CCSD’s countywide footprint, not separate municipal districts.
Henderson Is Served by CCSD
The City of Henderson does not operate its own K–12 district. Public schools inside Henderson city limits are CCSD campuses, and the city directs residents to CCSD zoning for assignment details. Henderson’s education pages also list charter and private schools located within the city. For a client comparing a Green Valley or Anthem address with one in Summerlin or Centennial Hills, the first step remains the same: confirm the CCSD attendance zone for that parcel, then review any magnet, charter, or private applications the family intends to pursue.
Magnet, IB, and Charter Options
Beyond zoned neighborhood schools, CCSD operates magnet schools and Career and Technical Academies. As of 2024, the district’s Magnet Schools office described 45 magnet and Career and Technical Academy campuses (ten elementary, fifteen middle, one K–8, and nineteen high schools). Themes listed by the district include International Baccalaureate (IB), STEM, creative and performing arts, leadership and communications, and career and technical education. IB offerings span Primary Years, Middle Years, and Diploma programmes for grades K–12. Magnet placement is application-based; transportation rules and deadlines are published each year by the Magnet Schools Department.
Charter schools are a separate public option. The State Public Charter School Authority (SPCSA) Growth Management Plan for 2026 reports that, as of the 2025–26 school year, the SPCSA authorizes 51 charter holders operating 90 campuses statewide, of which 78 campuses are in Clark County. Statewide SPCSA enrollment on the Nevada Department of Education’s October 1, 2025 validation day was 70,534 students. Charter seats are application- or lottery-based and are not tied to the same attendance zones as CCSD neighborhood schools.
Private Schools in Clark County
The Nevada Department of Education’s private-school enrollment report for 2024–25 recorded 17,869 students enrolled in private schools in Clark County as of October 15, 2024—out of 22,442 private-school students statewide. That Clark County figure was down 76 students, or 0.42 percent, from the prior year. The state report does not rank individual schools; it is useful as a scale indicator when a client asks how large the private sector is relative to the public system.
Higher Education: UNLV, Nevada State University, and CSN
The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), founded in 1957, reported a Fall 2025 preliminary census headcount of 33,706 students on its official Facts and Stats page—27,963 undergraduate, 4,682 graduate, and 1,085 professional—with 88 percent Nevada residents. Its structure includes business, engineering, hospitality, and nursing colleges, plus professional programs in law, medicine, and dentistry.
Nevada State University, at 1300 Nevada State Drive in Henderson, reported an unduplicated Fall 2025 end-of-semester headcount of 8,391 in the Nevada System of Higher Education’s official enrollment report, up 11.4 percent from Fall 2024.
The College of Southern Nevada (CSN), Nevada’s largest community college, reported 30,663 unduplicated students in the same Fall 2025 NSHE report. CSN operates three main campuses—Charleston in Las Vegas, Henderson, and North Las Vegas—plus centers including a Summerlin site that can matter for commute planning from the western rim.
Context for Your Client Conversation
When a relocating family asks about schooling near a specific address, I start with geography and process: Which CCSD zone covers the property? Are they also applying to magnet, IB, charter, or private programs? Do they want proximity to UNLV, Nevada State University, or a CSN campus? I share current official figures and point them to district and state tools; I do not characterize school quality or steer toward a particular neighborhood. When a client asks, I can pair these schooling facts with commute patterns and housing inventory for the areas they are considering.
If you are relocating a luxury client to Las Vegas and need this kind of schooling context for their search, I welcome the conversation. You can reach me at leah@eluciant.com or through Eluciant.com.
